EASY POTATO PATTIES

These potato patties are so easy to make and heavenly in every bite! These are crispy on the outside and soft and creamy on the inside.

Whenever I make mashed potatoes, there’s always a left over. I love making these delicious snacks with the left over masked potatoes. These patties are so flavourful and fluffy! Potato based dish is always crowd-pleasing!

WHAT DO I NEED TO MAKE POTATO PATTIES?

Mashed Potato
• Milk
• Flour
• Onion
• Spring Onions
• Coriander
• Egg
• Salt & Pepper
• Garlic powder
• Ginger Powder

HOW TO MAKE POTATO PATTIES?

You can use the left over mashed potato or make them fresh. Boil the potatoes, peel and mash them. Please take care that the mashed potato is not too watery. If you think potatoes are over boiled, use a cotton cloth to drain the excess water from the mashed potatoes.

In a bowl, add all the ingredients and mix well till they are completely combined. If it’s too sticky, add some more flour to it.

Grease the hands and make the mixture into small patties. This recipe yields 16-18 patties.

Heat a pan on medium-high heat and coat it with oil. Add the potato patties and cook them for 3-4 minutes on each side till they are golden browned.
Transfer to a plate with tissue paper to absorb the excess oil and serve with your favourite sauce! These go well with sour cream and hot sauce!

If you like spicy food, you can even add chilli powder and other spices to make it according to your taste! Cheese lovers can add cheese. Add different veggies like carrot, cabbage or broccoli to make it more kid friendly meal!

CAN I FREEZE MASHED POTATO PATTIES?

Yes, you can! These make perfect party food! You can make them ahead of time and freeze them on a plate with a baking sheet with some gaps so that they do not stick to each other. When they are partially frozen, transfer them to Ziplock bags or Freezer safe containers and freeze. When you need these, thaw them on the counter or overnight in the fridge. Warm them in the microwave or on a pan and enjoy!

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups Mashed Potato
  • 1/3 cup Milk
  • 1/3 cup Flour
  • 1/4 cup Onion diced
  • 2 tbsp Spring Onions
  • 2 tbsp Coriander
  • 1 Egg beaten
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Pepper
  • 1/4 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp Ginger Powder
  • 2 tbsp oil

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl, add all the ingredients and mix well till combined.
  • Grease the hands and make into patties.
  • Heat a pan on medium-high and coat with oil
  • Add the patties to it and cook for 3-4 minutes on both sides till golden browned.
  • Transfer to a plate with paper towel and serve with sauce!

Notes

• See that the potatoes are not over boiled as it makes the dough sticky.
• If it’s too sticky, add more flour to it.
