STEAMED MOIST BANANA CAKE

This steamed banana cake is healthy, soft and delicious 🤤 It’s filled with banana flavour and easy to make!

Frankly I never tasted banana cake until recently…Thanks to my neighbour. It is sooo delicious and just melts in mouth. When I asked her about the cake, she said it’s store bought. So I thought of making it myself… After few tries, finally got the best recipe! This recipe can be made with the readily available ingredients and the procedure is quite easy. Steaming the cake gives it wonderful texture… Trust me you are gonna love it unless you don’t like bananas (like my cousin)😂

INGREDIENTS:

• ripe bananas – 4
• all purpose flour – 1 1/2 cup
• brown sugar – 3/4 cup
• baking powder – 1 tsp
• baking soda – 1 tsp
• salt – 1/2 tsp
• medium eggs – 2
• oil – 1/2 cup

PROCEDURE:

1. In a bowl, beat the eggs till the colour is lighter and add oil.
2. In another bowl, mash the bananas with fork and keep a side.
3. Sift flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda to the egg mixture and give it a mix.
4. To it, add brown sugar and mashed bananas and mix well till all the ingredients are combined.
5. Grease the baking tray and pour the batter into it till 2/3. Cover it with aluminium foil.
6. In a wok, put the steaming rack stand and pour 2-3 glasses of water. Close the steam exit of the lid with aluminium foil.
7. Bring it to boil and place the baking tray on the stand.
8. Steam the cake on low flame for 1 hour or till tooth pick inserted in the centre comes out clean.
9. When done, remove it from the wok and let it cool for 5-10 min.
10. Enjoy fluffy and moist steamed banana cake.

TIPS:

  • Use over ripened bananas..This will make the cake softer and moist.
  • Use room temperature eggs. If the eggs are refrigerated, keep them in warm water for 5 to 10 min.
  • Beat eggs till you get more bubbles. It makes the cake light and moist.
  • Sift the flour for soft texture.
  • Do not over mix the batter. Mix just till all the ingredients are combined.
