Kawah Putih is about 50Km south of Bandung. It is one of the two craters which make up Mount Patuha, a stratovolcano. Kawah Putih crater lake itself represents a relatively stable volcanic system with no records of significant activity since around 1600.
You should take an orange mini bus called Ontang Anting to get to the lake. It is approximately 15 min drive through bumpy road.
As you enter, it looks like a different world!The torquoish water with snowy white shore looks magical. The cliff with trees in the background adds more beauty!
Kawah Putih is a highly acid lake (pH 0.5-1.3) which changes colour from bluish to whitish green, or brown, depending on the concentration of sulfur and the temperature or the oxidation state.
There is a strong Sulfur odour so better to bring a mask .It is actually advisable not to spend more time there.

How to get there:
Best option is to rent or hire a car. It is around 2 hrs drive from Bandung City. If you want to take public transportation, from Leuwipanjang Bus Station take the bus in the direction of Ciwidey. From Ciwidey, take the angkot mini bus to the entrance of Kawah Putih.
Visitors are asked to leave the vehicles at the main car park and take the mini shuttle bus to the crater(upto 5km).

Tips:
- Visit early to avoid crowd.
- There is ample parking and public toilets.
- Sometimes the sulfur odour is very strong,better to bring a mask.(You can buy there too but a bit expensive)
- Carry a rain coat or umbrella to avoid sudden downpours.
- Never dip your feet in the sulfur lake (not even for pictures!)
