Fish fry is one of my favourites and it tastes so good with rasam. Fish fry is a very simple yet delicious food item.
You can use any fish for frying – I used Pomphret today. It doesn’t need more items to marinate. Mostly ginger garlic paste is used to marinate but here I used garlic chopped into small pieces. When fried in oil, the garlic flavour infuse into the fish pieces and makes it more delectable.
INGREDIENTS:
• Fish pieces – 6 (cleaned)
• Garlic – 4 cloves (chopped into small pieces)
• Ginger – 1 inch (chopped)
• Chilli powder – 2 tbsp
• Coriander powder – 3 tbsp
• Garam masala – 1 tbsp
• Salt – as required
• Oil – 4 tbsp
• Curry leaves – few
• Coriander
PROCEDURE:
1. Clean the fish pieces properly.
2. In a plate, add all the marination items and add some water around 2 tbsp and mix well.
3. Apply the mixture on both sides of the fish pieces and leave it for atleast 30 minutes.
4. In a pan, add oil. When oil is hot enough, fry the fish pieces in oil for 4 to 5 minutes on each side. (Fry 2 or 3 pieces at a time)
5. After removing the fish from pan, fry the curry leaves for 30 seconds and add it to fish. Garnish with coriander and serve warm.
