Tangkuban Perahu is an active volcano..It is the only crater in Indonesia where one can drive up to its very rim.Tangkuban Perahu means”up-turned boat”. When seen from Bandung, Mount Tangkuban Perahu looks like an upside down boat.
Tangkuban Perahu has three craters
Kawah Ratu (“Queen Crater”)
Kawah Domas (“Domas Crater”) and
Kawah Upas (“Upas Crater”).
This is my first time visiting a volcanic crater and the sight looks spectacular..As you reach the top of the mountain, amazing view with cool breeze welcomes you. I didn’t expect it to be so cool! The volcanic crater looks beautiful with the steam coming out!You can even smell the sulfur after reaching the rim of the crater.so better bring masks if you are uncomfortable with it.
On the way to the top, you find it very cool and picturesque…There are small food stalls too on the way. Don’t miss the hot and tasty corn in the cool weather!
Domas Crater has many hot springs where tourists can rest or even boil the eggs!Again there is an entrance fee to enter the crater..It’s 300,000 IDR for a group of 5 with guide. There will be almost 1.5 Km walk through the forest and hills to reach the hot springs…But beware of the touts! They hard sell souvenirs for a very high price!
