Maldives is a very popular tourist destination and it’s one of the TOP destinations on my bucket list..Finally we visited Maldives In April, 2015.
Maldives is known for its natural environment – the blue ocean, white beaches, and clean air. The climate of the Maldives is ideal for visitors to get engaged in water sports such as Swimming, scuba diving, fishing, snorkeling, Water skiing, wind surfing and kite boarding.
We planned for 4D4N trip. From Singapore to Maldives, the flight duration is around 5 hours. We arrived Maldives in the evening and checked into UI hotels. The beach is just across the road so we had a romantic beach walk at night! The sea is beautiful!

The hotel is well maintained and the staff is very helpful and friendly. The beach is just across the road. So you can go to the beach whenever you want! I should definitely mention about the chef. He is very talented and cooked a variety of delicious dishes. One of us is a vegetarian and we were worried that he might not get good food as Maldives is famous for seafood. But the chef cooked delicious vegetarian food too. Even in the BBQ dinner, he arranged good vegetarian food!
DAY 1:
As we arrived in the evening, we just wanted to spend the time along the beach and BBQ dinner by the beach!
We asked for BBQ dinner by the sea and they arranged it. It’s so sweet of them to arrange candles in heart shape in the sand!
DAY 2:
We went to the beach to witness the sunrise and its spectacular! We even managed to get some silhouettes too!
Later we headed to the resort. The unique condition of Maldives is that one island is one resort, it means that one hotel occupies the whole island. So the resorts provide more privacy and more luxury for their visitors! In addition to its beach encircling the island, each island has its own “house reef” which serves as a coral garden and natural aquarium for scuba divers and snorkelers. The shallow water enclosed by the house reef also serves as a large natural swimming pool and protects swimmers from the ocean waves and strong tidal currents outside the house reef.
Centara Ras Fushi Resort & Spa:
We planned a day in the resort and it’s really worthy!Centara Ras Fushi Resort & Spa Maldives is an adults-only retreat that is ideal for couples and honeymooners. Resort offers top notch facilities with excellent hospitality.
DAY 3:
Today is for adventures…We went on a half day trip for snorkeling and Sand banking.
It is such a fun trip..The sand bank is a beauty and the shallow waters allows you to enjoy at the beach without any fear! The white sand and turquoise water looks stunning.
Snorkeling in the blue lagoons witnessing the elegant corals and marine life is breath taking! It was the most beautiful sight I have ever seen!
After returning from the trip, we were dropped at the floating villa to the enjoy the scenic beauty and spend a night there! The sunset view at the jetty is breath taking!
It’s one of a kind experience. The villa is well maintained and has two bedrooms and many open relaxing areas to enjoy the nature. The cook and helper are very friendly and the cook made awesome dishes.
DAY 4:
We opted to go on a Submarine ride and the local city tour. Actually there is nothing much to see in the city tour. We just roamed along the main roads near the jetty and there is a mosque nearby.
The submarine will descend to a submerged reef 45 meters beneath the surface. You can see different types of reef fish, snappers and many more! It’s a total of 45 min of underwater experience. The view is beautiful!
Best time to visit:
The Maldives are sunny year-round with temperatures ranging between 23ºC-31ºC. The best time to visit the Maldives is between November and April. The best time to visit on a budget would be between April and June. The weather is not as wet as the later months. The high season falls between December and March. The monsoon runs from May to October, peaking around June.
Tips:
- As it is very hot, don’t forget the sunscreen.
- Bring sun hats and sun glasses.
- Many of the people of Maldives are Muslims so there are strict rules regarding alcohol consumption. You can have alcohol in resort but don’t bring outside.
- Don’t forget to bring an underwater camera( which we missed)
